The Nauset Model Railroad Club, a non-profit organization, was
formed in December of 1989 by a group of train enthusiasts on the
Lower Cape. Their common interest was railroading and model
railroading in particular. Today's members are a mix of very active
collectors with train layouts, and others who just enjoy talking and
learning about trains.
The club has grown steadily and today has over 100 active
members. Club members get together Friday nights from 7:00-9:00
pm to work on train layouts in the lower level (rear) of the Hilltop
Plaza. The first Friday of each month (September through June), we
meet at the same location at 7:30 pm for the monthly meeting. We
meet to operate trains, build layouts, watch videos, have clinics on
some railroad topic, or just plain talk.
For several years the club has sponsored a seasonal model and toy
train displays in the Orleans area. Now we have a more permanent
home in the rear of the Hilltop Plaza on Route 6A in Orleans. This
was done in order to increase interest in model railroads and answer
questions from the people who would like to become more involved
in the hobby. Above all, it provides enjoyment to those of all ages
who come just to watch the trains operate.
Your membership helps the club continue with it's goal of promoting
the hobby and providing hours of relaxation and enjoyment to anyone
who is interested.
